Altemese “Mease” Gardner, 93, entered eternal life on March 23, 2018, following a brief illness. The oldest of four born on January 21, 1925 to Isreal and Fannie Gardner, Mease was educated in Duval County public schools, graduating from Old Stanton High – Class of 1943. Secondary to her faith and family, Mease had a passion for meticulous appearances which led to a decades-long career as a provider of domestic and facility management services at Hope Haven, where she retired as Superintendent. She was a lifelong member of Greater Grant Memorial A.M.E. Church, serving on Usher Board #2 and the Lay organization. Predeceased by her parents, and siblings Isreal Gardner, Jr., Freddie Gardner (Ruth), and Hortense Lundy, Mease leaves to mourn her nephew Freddie Bruce Gardner; nieces Mildred Lynn Reed (Michael), and Marsha Ruth Oliver; grand nephew Joel Gardner Oliver; and several cousins, and loving friends. Funeral services will be held TODAY, March 30 at 10 AM at Greater Grant Memorial A.M.E., Rev. Tan Moss, Pastor, 5533 Gilchrist Rd., followed by interment at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
