Artis Henry James, Jr. affectionately called “Sneakie” was born on December 24, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida to Artis H. James, Sr. and Alice McGill James. He was educated in the local schools of Duval County.
Artis departed this life on Saturday, October 22, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Artis H. James, Sr. and Alice McGill-James; brother, Robert James; sisters, Dorothy James and Cordelius Conner; son, Artis James III; daughters, Nettie Dixon and Lashun James; grandson, Derrick James; great-granddaughter, Artavia James.
Artis leaves to cherish his loving memories a son, Charles Smith; sister, Catherine Graves; grandchildren, Ricky Kirkland, Artis James IV, Artia James, Jeremey James, Jermaine James, Jonathon James, Janet James, Anita James, Jenae James, April McCants, and Char'zai Smith; 21 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
