Obituary for Augustus Robert Scott Sr.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

Augustus Robert Scott, Sr. was born on October 8, 1934 in Jamaica, New York to the late Blandina Elizabeth Christopher Scott Campbell. Augustus received his education in Jamaica, New York where he graduated and attended Queens College for two years, receiving his degree as a Childcare Worker. He was employed with John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), where he worked as an Airplane Technician fueling airplanes for twenty-four years. After retiring from the airport, Augustus went into his field of study and worked as a Childcare Worker until his health began to fail. Augustus received Christ, as his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended several churches. Prior to relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, he served as a deacon at New Life Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Isaiah Crumpton. Augustus later became a member of Gateway to Heaven Christian Church under the co-leaders of Pastor Carlton Jones and Pastor Walter Johnson where he continued to serve as a deacon.
Augustus departed this life on Monday, September 21, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital where he is now resting in the arms of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his mother, Blandina Elizabeth Christopher Scott Campbell; sister, Janette Malphus; and brother, James Campbell.
Augustus leave to cherish his memories a loving and caring wife, Barbara Scott; nine children, Augustus Scott, Jr. (Kistean), Chandea Combs, Carl Scott (Angel), Tracey Scott, Robert Scott, Bernadetta Whitfield (Harold), Michael Rhoad (Carol), Jennifer Rhoad, and Eric Rhoad (Meredith); brothers, Hercules Campbell, Walter Campbell (Harriet), Abraham Campbell (Ann), Jerome Campbell (Rose), and Phillip Campbell (Patricia); sisters, Harriet Scott, Wilma Campbell, and Dorothy Campbell; twenty-six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and friends.
The funeral service for Augustus Robert Scott, Sr. will be held 1:00 pm Friday, September 25th, 2015 at the Gateway To Heaven 7700 N Pearl Street. The visitation will be one hour befor the service.
