Benjamin was born on August 19, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida at Brewster’s Hospital to the proud parents of Jesse and Mary Alexander. He confessed Christ later in life and was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church. Benjamin attended the local schools of Duval County. He later met and married Wendy Alexander on October 5, 1988 in Georgia, from this union three sons, Benjamin Jr., Alonzo and Tarrence and two daughters, Bonita and Angel were born.

Benjamin departed this life on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jesse Alexander, Wallace Alexander, Glenna Alexander and Gwendolyn Saunders.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories: Wendy Alexander; sons, Benjamin Alexander, Jr., Alonzo Alexander, Tarrence Alexander; stepson, MarKeith Ansley; daughters, Bonita Alexander, Angel Alexander and Tashell Stinson; brothers, John Alexander and Kenneth Alexander; sister, Marvynne McIntyre (Calvin); special sister-in-laws, Mrs. Felicia Alexander and Gale Alexander; a devoted mother-in-law, Dorothy Kohn; two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other sorrowing relatives and friends, including Mason Mathis.
