Carolyn Joyce Hopkins-Lindsey was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 24, 1943 to the late Gabriel and Edna Mae Hopkins. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with St. Paul AME Church, later joining Faust Temple COGIC regularly participating until health prevented her. Carolyn showed much enthusiasm when asked of her to help in any auxiliary capacity, unselfishly. Her hands and heart were extended in love to all who met her. Carolyn attended the local schools in Duval County, graduating from New Stanton High School in the class of 1961.

Carolyn was employed for many years with the State of Florida Department of Children and Families and Nesbit Restaurant . Also worked as a Nursing Assistant. She later met and married William Lindsey (deceased) in Jacksonville, Florida on May 9, 1964. From this union one son, Quansulo Lindsey was born.

Carolyn departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Edna Mae Hopkins; sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Evan Hopkins, Josephine White, Ella Hopkins (Summerville, South Carolina) and Virginia Hopkins (Jacksonville, Florida); brothers, James Hopkins (Summerville, South Carolina), Nathaniel and Gary Hopkins, Jacksonville, Florida.

Carolyn leaves to mourn her passing a son, Quansulo Lindsey (Washington, DC); sisters, Alice Hopkins (Atlanta, Georgia), Harriett (McDonald) Burch (Jacksonville, Florida) and Brenda Hopkins (Summerville, South Carolina); grandchildren, ShaQuanda Johnson (Los Angeles, California), Jacquez Lindsey (Los Angeles, California) and Ratasha Lindsey (Atlanta, Georgia); great-grand, Jordan Lindsey (Los Angeles, California); godson, Derrick McIntyre II (Pasadena, California); notable senior family members, Albert Jenkins (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and Hattie Mae Nesbitt (Jacksonville, Florida); numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Carolyn Joyce Lindsey will be held 10AM, Saturday, August 25th, 2018 at the Faust Temple Church Of God In Christ 3328 Moncrief Road.
