Obituary for Constance Irene "Connie" Herring (Herring)
Constance Irene Herring, affectionately called “Connie”, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 29th, 1944 to the parents of Henry James Chisholm and Mildred Brown Chisholm. Constance “Connie” Herring entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday January 5th, 2017. Connie confessed Christ at an early.
In the early 1980’s, she was later baptized at Philippian Community Church (where she served faithfully for several years). On March 27, 2005, Connie and her late husband (David) became a part of the ministry at Greater New Jerusalem under the great leadership of Overseer B. E. Williams, Pastor and son-in-law.
Connie received her education in Duval County local schools where she attended Darnell Cookman and New Stanton High School. She was employed by Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) where she retired as a customer Service Supervisor after 28 years of faithful service. Connie was an excellent cook. She loved to watch food and cooking channels. Her enjoyment of cooking developed into a small business by the name of Fabulous Floral Fruit Bouquet. Moreover, her greatest joy was preparing meals for her family and friends on special days and holidays. Connie also loved sports and enjoyed watching football and basketball on television with friends and family.
Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. David Herring, beloved parents, Henry and Mildred Chisholm; beloved sister, Mary C. Underwood; and brother Henry James Chisholm Jr. Constance is survived by her son, David D. (Sandra) Herring; daughter, La’ Trice (Burdette) Williams; step-daughter Brigette (Terrence) Porter. Also, she is survived by nine grandchildren: Pastor Shawn (JoAnn) Williams, Caressa Williams, Deacon Burdette (Renee) Williams, Jeremiah (Crystal) Williams, Pastor Jared (Marquita) Williams, Caleb Williams, Benson Roger, Devon and David Dejuan Jr., nine great-grandchildren; stepmother: Mozell Chisholm; sisters: Claretha McKenzy (Leonard) and Theresa Chisholm; brother: Andrew Chisholm, beloved uncle and aunt Rev. and Mrs. A. Clark, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
