Obituary for Darrell Earl Wrights

Darrell Earl Wrights
Darrell Earl Wrights affectionately known as “D” was born on February 6, 1964 in Belzoni, Mississippi to Rosa Mae Hunter and Johnny Wright. Darrell spent his earlier life growing up in the delta of Mississippi, where he was often the most curious young boy exploring all that the outdoors could offer. His mother Rose, introduce him to the lord at an early age and he was baptized at 5 years old. He became a young member of First United Baptist Church of Indianola, Mississippi, pastored by Samuel Rush. The family relocated to Florida where he spent his adolescent and teenage years, until age 17. Darrell move to Jackson, Mississippi to live with his grandmother, Lolee McNutt during his senior year of high school, and graduated from Provine High School in 1983.

Darrell enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until he retired after 23 years of service on November 30, 2010 as a Sergeant First Class. He will be missed by the many lives he touched in so many ways. He was one of the most giving people you could ever meet. Darrell was a God fearing man who loved and cared deeply for his family and friends. He devoted his life to Christ in January 2012 and became a faithful member of Oasis International Ministries of Jacksonville, Florida under the leadership of Pastor Kevin A. LaVant Sr. He was always willing to lend a hand to help. Darrell was a heart filled Pittsburg Steelers and LA Laker Fan. He has taught us so many things; we will truly miss him, especially his grandchildren who called him “PaPa”.

Darrell departed this life to be with the Lord on November 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Mae Hunter; brother, Anthony Phillips; and sister, Belinda Wright.
