Derek Reynard Carson died on Saturday, September 26, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1953 to Louis and Willie Mae Carson in Clearwater, Florida. He spent the majority of his life in Clearwater before moving to Jacksonville twenty years ago. He resided in the Hogan’s Creek Apartments where he was well known and respected for his strong sense of community and service to the residents. He was a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Derek was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, Horace and Mable Carson and Elizabeth White.

He is survived by his son, Derek Carson, Jr., Clearwater, Florida; 4 grandsons; 1 great grandson; siblings, Elaine Spencer (Charles), Patricia Alexander (Lawrence), Louis Carson (Marie), and Sonya Racker (Edward). In addition, several loving nieces, nephews, and many friends will mourn his passing.

The funeral service was held 12 noon Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Westside Church of Christ, 23 8th Street, Jacksonville Florida, Elijah Taylor, Minister.
