Mrs. Dolly Lockhart Jackson was born to the late Ira Lockhart Sr. and Dorothy Owens Lockhart on September 20, 1938. She was the youngest of six children born to the Lockhart union and was preceded in death by her siblings Murphy Lockhart, Ira (Louise) Lockhart Jr., Eazell Lucas, Evelyn Lockhart, and Mattie White.

Dolly was born in Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia but spent much of her formative years with her eldest brother in New Britain, Connecticut where she graduated high school. After high school, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she was employed as a Tea-Server at Morrison’s Cafeteria. While working at Morrison’s she met Andrew Jackson Sr., a waiter with whom she was joined in Holy Matrimony on September 24, 1960. The two affectionately referred to each other as “Honey” during their 59 years of marriage. Dolly and Andrew obeyed the gospel and remained active members of the Westside Church of Christ for over 50 years. Over the years, Dolly participated in several Church ministries and activities including the Westside Singers, Ladies Bible Class, food and clothing distribution, weekly visitation team to the sick and shut-in members and serving in the church kitchen.

Dolly worked in the Duval County Public School System for over 30 years as a teacher’s assistant in classrooms for students with special needs. For leisure, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, completing crossword puzzles, playing card games, watching gameshows and soap operas, bowling, singing, line-dancing, traveling, and cooking. Her collard greens, candied yams, peach cobbler, and banana pudding were family favorites.

Dolly departed this earthly life peacefully on May 29, 2020 surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Andrew Jackson Sr.; six children, Gloria (James) Penn, Dorothy (Morris) Brown, Andrena Jackson, Andrew (Cassandra) Jackson Jr, Charles (Tanya) Jackson, and Qu'Wan Jackson; seven grandchildren, Cortney (Brittany) Penn, Dolly (DeJuan) White, Taylor (Langston) Woodie, Chandler Brown, Andrew Jackson III, Sterling Jackson, and Cydney Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Cortney Penn; one great-great-grandson, Deardray Johnson Jr.; a loving Godson, Lewis (Jacqueline) Jones and many other adopted children, godchildren, relatives and friends.

God blessed me with a very special friend, Dolly.. We met in 1996 and continued contact on a regular basis. This lady was truly a child of God, full of compassion & love for others. It was always an uplifting experience to talk to her as she always could see the good regardless of the situation. The devotion for each other that she & Mr. Jackson shared was awesome. We had many joyful times breaking bread together. This temporary loss is Heaven's gain & I know she will be waiting for all of us one day. To Dolly's family, thank you for sharing her with me. My love to all of you.
