My Granddaddy

Known as Daddy -- Grandaddy -- Eddie Lee -- Mr Mac. Say Mac and it sound resembles the first syllabel for magical. That's how Granddaddy felt like magic. In the presence of my Granddaddly the experience felt spiritual. His tales sounded mythical. I believed him when he said he would live to 125. I swore he was invincible, because his talents felt like powers, not gifts, but powers -- the powers we related to being unnatural...superpowers from above.....powers strictly for the Chosen. And he was definitely one of THE ones. I love my Granddaddy more than any other man. We used to never say goodbye. Now I see it eas never to be in the plans...So, I'll still see you later...only when I'll never know. I'm trying hard not to be mad and accept that it was your time to go. Now is a time to mourn, and soon a time to reflect...to learn from your mistakes and praise your successes. One thing you got from everyone who ever knew you was your due-earned RESPECT. It was fully understood that you weren't accepting any less. They feared your wrath and couldn't help but smile when you were glad. Your mood was infectious, and like and old folk song, when you laughed knees rocked and hips dipped -- your dance in your excitement. Every person who was honored to be near you tried to steal parts of your likeness....your walk of purpose and determination, your proverbial wisdom, and sincerity. There's none born like you. And only few traits hereditary. Your body's no longer with us but your memory can never be buried. You'll always be with us forever and some more. Why we are who we are, traces to you as the source. Lord heal us for not fully appreciating the best times, the better, and the worst...your essence, your ethics and love. You stayed busy everyday like there was never enough work, missions and accomplishments. I know you'll find something to do, because rest is for the weary, and that in you, I never seen...though I know that we can all rest assure that your eternity is peace. I was selfish with my claim to you....mad to share you with anyone other than family. It's just, you were rare to me, and if you weren't of his bloodline, then I felt you couldn't claim to be. But, just as you are special to me other people felt the same. But, I'm forever skeptical of motives because when you was mad I felt violent pain. I love you Granddaddy, and that will never change. I'll speak of you to my children praying that they hold on to wisdom you gave me...pride and strength....the same things I pray to give them. Now you're home with your parents, your brother, and ex-wives. While on earth we'll learn to let go of our selfishness and accept your place in paradise. JUSTIN
