Esther Williams
Esther White-Williams was born on September 9, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Levi James White, Sr., and Mary Ann Singleton-White. She graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, and furthered her education by completing Secretarial school. Esther also became a certified Nursing Assistant and was employed with St. Vincent Medical Center for many years before her retirement. After retiring, she worked private duty for several years.

Esther accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a member of Union Community AME Church of Jacksonville, Florida before joining Joint - Heirs Christian Center. Among many other talents, she was a superior seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting and drawing. She had a love for children, educating them and welcoming many into her home over the years as a caregiver.

Esther was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Charles E. Williams for over 50 years. To this union three children were born, Danette aka “Chris”, Darryl, and Angela.

Esther departed this life on Thursday, December 10, 2015 and was preceded in death by her mother, Mary White; father, Levi White, Sr.; brother, Levi White, Jr. (Freddie); sisters, Annie Mae Williams (Bernice), and Pearl Harris.

Esther leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Charles E. Williams; three devoted children, Danette “Chris” Merkison (Teddy) of Jacksonville, Florida, Darryl E. Williams (Diane) of Tampa, Florida, and Angela Williams of Jacksonville, Florida (Felix - New York); four precious grandchildren; Pharryl J. Merkison, Danielle N. Williams, Dorian I. Williams, and David K. Williams; her loyal pets, Sockie, and Prince (dogs); Missy, and Max (cats); sister, Ruth Vicks (Mac), brother, Herbert White (Geneva) both of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Eva Davis-White, brother, Jimi White both of Charleston, South Carolina; sister-in-laws, Willie Mae Wiggins, Flora Rogers, Mary Davis, Susie Mayo, Edna Dingle-Stokes, and Alice West (Jonathan); brother-in-laws, John H. There never was a purer heart than that of my dear mother, whose love and care goes on and on far beyond all others. But at journey’s end we’ll always find only God can give us mothers.
