NOTED MUSICIAN, SOCIAL WORKER, EDUCATOR …
Etta Rose Marie Sanders, only daughter of Mrs. Irma J. Sanders, was born on Thursday, July 20, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida. EDUCATION Etta was educated in the Duval County Public School system graduating from William M. Raines Senior High School, in the Class of 1979. She matriculated at Edward Waters College earning her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.

CAREER Etta began her career in Social Work in 1998. She held positions with the Arc of Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Job Corps, and was a Private Contractor. She began her career as an Educator with Duval County Public Schools in 2009 and remained until her health began failing.

MINISTRY OF MUSIC AND THE ARTS Etta served as Musician for many churches in the City of Jacksonville, including (in order of service): • St. Luke Baptist Church • Central Metropolitan CME Church – here, she was instrumental in forming: The Ebony Angels Children’s Choir; The H. M. Williamson Youth Choir; and most recently, The Heart of Judah Praise Team • Holsey Chapel CME Church • New Bethel AME Church • Wayman Chapel AME Church • St. Paul AME Church • At her passing, she was a member of the music staff of her church, Faith United Miracle Temple Etta also served as Musician for the Jacksonville Component of the Florida Mass Choir. Etta was very passionate about the music that she was gifted to make. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Etta wrote and arranged songs of praise and worship. She also collaborated with music ministries such as Central Metropolitan CME Church, Faith United Miracle Temple, and Wayman Chapel AME Church to produce inspirational, thought provoking plays. Her collaboration with Wayman Chapel AME Church on the play ‘Callin’ My Name’ was such a success that it deserved an encore and was taken to the Ritz Theatre. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

On Monday evening, June 11, 2018, Etta Rose Marie Sanders entered into eternal rest, to suffer pain no more. She was aged 56 years. Along with her devoted mother, Mrs. Irma J. Sanders, those left to cherish her memory are her cousins: Grenda (George) Barnes, Janice (Willie James) Dawkins, Joel (Danielle) Lynch, Rev. Percy Myers (San Diego, CA), Linda Senior, Blanche Shedrick, Beverly (Franklin) Weed; her god-brother, Elder Horace (Christine) Pender; her god-sisters, Katherine Brown, Lavonne (Douglas) Stanton, Marvette Williams, Latrice Wright; her god-children, Brandon Lee, Nemia Pender, Bria Williams; and many other relatives and friends.
