Evelyn Boatwright Battle was born on June 25, 1927 in Summerton, South Carolina the daughter of the late Lydia Caldwell Boatwright and Willie Boatwright. Evelyn was educated in the Duval County Public Schools and went on to work for Dixie Cleaners for 37 years, she was a hard worker during her time of employment. Evelyn was also a devoted member of Alexander Temple Community Church for 25 years serving on the Mother’s Board. Evelyn touched many lives and will never be forgotten.

Evelyn made her transition into heaven on Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lydia Boatwright; a son, Ronald K. Battle; a sister, Oree Battle; five brothers; a grandson, Aaron R. Griggs.

Evelyn leaves to mourn a loving and devoted daughter, Phyllis A. Griggs; four grandchildren, Xaviers Herndon, Ronald K. Battle, Jr., Patrick Griggs (Chaz), and Karen Brown; great-grandchildren, Traviers Herndon, Javaris Herndon, Javontee Herndon, Kamilah Griggs, Raijon Griggs, Rakiyah Griggs, Aaren Griggs, and Nia Guine; sister-in-law, Doretha Johnson; Evelyn was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The beloved Evelyn Boatwright Battle passed away December 13, 2105. She leaves a loving devoted daughter, Phyllis A. Griggs, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral service for Evelyn D. Battle will be held 11:00 AM, SATURDAY at the Faith United Miracle Temple, 1860 West 5th St. The visitation will be 5 - 7:00 pm, Friday at the mortuary. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
