Irene Toomer was born in Newton, Georgia to Hosie Hawkins and Narciss Hawkins. Irene relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and lived there for the rest of her life. It is in Jacksonville where she met Charles Toomer and they started a beautiful family of their own. Irene loved family and was blessed with a large one.

Irene departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosie and Narciss Hawkins; husband, Charles Toomer; son, Lenard Hawkins; Geneva (Orange) Hawkins, Cleotha Beckey, Julianne (Joseph) Broadwater, Sarah (Thornton) Burns, Queen Alice (Sylvester) Rease, Jimmy (Louise) Hawkins, Eva Jean (Plummer).

Irene leaves to cherish wonderful memories her son, Bobby Toomer; two daughters, Barbia Sanders (David) and Charleszatta Toomer; grandchildren, Travis (Robin), Tavares (Jasmine), Fredrick, Kinshasa, Stephanie (Randy), Caressa (Leonard), and Mishaa; her significant other, Willie (Red) Holmes; sister, Flossie Mae (Johnnie) Wallace; brother-in-law, Edward Plummer; a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Irene blessed us with kind words every day. Her favorite saying was “Never forget the Family Prayer”

The funeral service for IRENE TOOMER will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street JACKSONVILLE, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 pm 7:00 pm , Friday, April 8th, 2016 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
