Jackie Marvin Lanear was born on October 4, 1955 to the late Bennie J. Lanear and Tomia L. Lanear in Jacksonville, Florida. He was their seventh child of seven children.

Jackie attended William M. Raines Senior High School, after leaving school he entered the medical field following the footsteps of his mother.

Jackie began his career at Methodist Hospital and onto the Florida Georgia Blood Alliance Bank and finally to Memorial Hospital where he worked as a Lead Phlebotomist up to the time of his illness. Jackie took great pride in the jobs he held at Memorial. He was fastidious about his appearance, especially his uniforms which were pressed with great care and that both his uniforms and shoes were as white as white could be. He made many friends at Memorial because of his engaging personality. He also earned certificates for his work and was known for his potluck dishes at co-workers special events. Not only did Jackie take great pride in his job performance he also enjoyed basketball, football, bicycling and, of course, music.

Like the TV sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond” Everybody Loved Jackie.

Jackie departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie J. Lanear in 1999 and his mother, Tomia L. Lanear in 2011.

Jackie leaves to mourn his death: sons, Marvin Lanear and Brieland Lanear; brothers, Benjamin Lanear, James Lanear, Lynn Lanear, and Ahmed Mohammed; sisters, Brenda Lanear and Valisha Jones; two close and endeared friends, Estelle Gordon and Linda Paulette Smith; a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
