Obituary for Jeoffrey Bernard Brown

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4

Mr. Jeoffrey Bernard Brown was born in Albany, Georgia on February 10, 1974 to Mr. Irenus Brown, Jr. and Ms. Bertha Brown Solomon. Better known as “Jeff” or “J.B.” by his friends and family, Jeff grew up in the suburban city of Flint, MI. While residing in Michigan Jeff was studious, academic and gifted in the area of Fine Art. He was an accomplished trumpet player and a natural artist. Jeoffrey grew up in the Church of Christ (North Central Church of Christ in Flint, MI) where he continued to demonstrate his talent in singing. One of his favorite songs that he loved to sing was “And I’ll rise again”. During his teenage years the Brown family relocated to Albany, Georgia. While in Albany, the Browns continued to raise Jeff under “it takes a village” philosophy, with the help of his “Auntie Diane” (alongside his closest cousin Shandrea Brown Thorne), “Pops” (Grandfather, deceased), “Grandma Inez” (Brown), and “Grandma Rushie Bell” (deceased). All to which Jeoffrey was “the one”. There Jeoffrey continued to captivate his friends and family with his infectious smile and sense of humor. During this time he was an active member in the church (River Road Church of Christ in Albany, GA) where he continued to serve with his harmonious voice. After a few years of living in Southeast Georgia, his dad, brother and sister relocated to Yuba City, CA with continued upbringing help from his Uncle Wayne (“it takes a village”continues on). Shortly after graduating from Yuba City High School, Jeff became the proud father to Miss Sharae Brown (Denver, CO) where he’s survived with one grandson. Jeoffrey had aspirations of becoming a nurse, so he pursued a higher education by enrolling and taking classes at Ogeechee Technical College (Statesboro, GA). During the last decade in Jeff’s life, Jeoffrey lived in Jacksonville, FL where he continued to help raise his other daughter Arriana McCray. During this time Jeff suffered from a traumatic head injury where he was in a comatose sleep for a period of time, leaving him with lifelong seizures. Even with the effects of his frequent seizures, memory loss and pain Jeoffrey continued to charm those who he encountered with his vivacious spirit. Jeoffrey passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. He is preceded in his death by his mother, father, brother (Darius Brown), sister (Ingrid Austin), Grandmother Inez, daughters, grandson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jeoffrey will truly be missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.
