Jerry Maurice Butler McCray was born on June 24, 1944 to James Butler and Elizabeth Mitchell Bartley in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended schools in Franklin, Germany and the Duval County Public School system where she graduated from Stanton High School in 1962, Jacksonville, Florida. During her school years she worked part-time at Spot Rite Cleaners and Buster Ford Restaurant. After graduating Jerry worked at Levy Wolf Department Store and Rosenblum Department Store, prior to her retirement from Blue Cross Blue Shield of 31 years.

Jerry Maurice was an active member of District #16 Church, School Ministry, Discipleship Training Church, retired member (President), Senior Choir, Culinary Ministry (Secretary). She was very active in the Deaconess Board of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry was also an active member of the Eastern Star, The Grand Court Heroiness of Jerricho, Most Worship Union Grand Court, Grand CBA Treasure, Retired Group of Love-Life-Liked.

Jerry Maurice 73, went home with the Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Butler and Elizabeth Mitchell Bartley; sister, Gloria Levi.

Jerry Maurice is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Johnny McCray; her loving children, Antionette Murphy (Dennis), Shirlyne Heard (Howard) and Johnny Bruce McCray (Shelley); grandchildren, Danielle Murphy, Dennis Murphy, II, Tesia Heard, Elizabeth Heard, Jazzmen McCray and Skyler McCray; sisters, Alfreda Miller and Dorothy Powell; brothers, Reginald Harris and Terry Harris; a host of family members including her in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, devoted neighbors and dedicated Health Care Providers.

The funeral service for Jerry Maurice McCray will be held 10AM, Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church 954 Kings Road.
