Obituary for John Lee Jones Jr.

John Lee Jones Jr.
John affectionately known as “Peter” and by some as “Short Ribs” was born in Woodside, Delaware on August 13, 1951 to the late, John Lee and Lorine Jones. He confessed Christ at an early age. John attended school in the Charlton County School District. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp and his service to our great country was appreciated. He later met and married his love, Priscilla Ann Lambert.

Peter was a very caring individual who never met a stranger. He was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a conversationalist and at any given time, he was ready to talk about an array of topics including sports, cars, music, military, politics, and anything else happening in the days’ headlines. He was an enthusiastic fan for the Georgia Bulldogs. Peter even enjoyed the simple and wondrous things in life that our God made. Sitting on his front porch with his dog, watching nature and taking in its beauty was a daily routine. Peter’s infectious smile and laugh will be missed by his family and friends.

Peter departed this life on Tuesday morning, February 5, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, John Lee Jones, Sr.; mother, Lorine Jones; beloved grandmother, Laura L. Jones; brothers, Willie T. Chance, Tommie Lee Atkins and Willie Wells; and a sister, Annie L. Robinson.

Peter leaves to mourn his passing, a devoted and loving wife, Priscilla Ann Lambert-Jones; children, John Lee Jones, III, Melinda Johnson (Apollo), Tony Canady, Tamika Canady-Thomas and Dominic Jones (Miesha); 25 grandchildren, including John Lee Jones, IV and Na’Duania Jones of whom he raised as his own; 13 great–grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Davis, Michael Jones, Thomas Austin, Rudolph Austin, Billie Wells, Carlton Wells and Anthony Wells; sisters, Derby Robbins, Arlena Sims (Ricky), Gloria Smith, Norma Brice (Phillip), Lillian Wells, Gwendolyn Mordecai, Sonya Olds (Jacob), Irma Stafford (Bishop Spencer Stafford) and Linda Mach; special and longtime friends, Larry Gibbs, Terry Green and his “pooch” Matthew; a host of other relatives and friends.
