Sister Julia Victoria General was born on November 29, 1954 in Pineville, South Carolina to the late Maxine Paige and Harris “Happy” Williams. She attended the Duval County Public Schools, and later received her General Education Diploma from Florida Community College Jacksonville. Julia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Northside Church of Christ in 1973 under the leadership of Bro. Charlie McClendon. In recent years, she attended the Church of Christ at US-1, under the leadership of Bro. Clarence E. Williams.
Julia spent her younger years as a dedicated housewife and mother to her husband and five children. She later spent many years as an employee of Thrift Town and Colomer USA.
Julia was a loving wife and mother who took care of the home and family with great pride. She had a loving, positive and encouraging spirit that you just could not ignore or forget. Even during her time of illness she was encouraging to her family, friends, and her Brothers/Sisters in Christ. She will truly be missed by all.
Julia was called home on August 4, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine Paige and Harris “Happy” Williams, her sister Pauline Montgomery, her aunts, uncles, and nephew, Joe Denard Harrell.
Julia leaves to cherish her memories her husband and caregiver, Walter General, Sr.; children, Walter General, Jr., Nakia General, Carl General (Katrina), Jessica General, and Austin General, Sr. (LaTiffany); grandchildren, Ke’shayla General, Daishawn General, Austin General, Jr., Tyrone Griffin, Jr., Jordyn General, and Malaysia General; brother, Joe Harrell (Denise); brothers-in-law, Kenneth General (Thomacina), Jessie General (Cassandra); sisters-in-law, Jeanette Artis, Sandra Perry (Ronald), Ruby Persley, and Carol Washington; nieces, Lavonne Harrell and Michelle Harrell; special cousin, Marvinette Harrell (Miami, FL); and a host of nieces, nephews, caring family members and friends.
The funeral service for Julia Victoria General will be held 11 AM SATURDAY at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. The visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Friday at the mortuary.
