Obituary for Martha Nell Williams

Martha Nell  Williams
Martha Nell Williams was born on March 20, 1936 in Monroeville, Alabama to Lemuel and Mattie Hixon. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, joining Carry Mount Baptist Church where she was baptized. Martha graduated from Bethlehem Industrial Academy located in Monroeville, Alabama on May 19, 1955 and was united in holy matrimony on April 26,1958 to Frederick "Buck" Williams in Pensacola, Florida. They soon moved to Jacksonville where she became a long and faithful member of Greater Friendly Missionary Baptist Church.

Martha was employed by the Duval County Public Schools at Northwestern Middle School for 30 years, until her retirement in 1999. She faithfully fulfilled her most important role as the dedicated matriarch of the Williams family. 

The Lord called Martha to glory on Saturday, November 21, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Mattie Hixon; spouse, Fredrick Williams; two of six children, Darryl Williams, and Michelle Williams; her twin sister, Adell Ewing; brothers, Robert Hixon, and Thomas Hixon. 

Martha leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Tommy Hixon, Jacqueline Warren, Valerie Williams, and Terrell "Von" Williams, all of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Julia Mae Burroughs of Birmingham, Alabama, and Minnie Peoples of Tampa, Florida; a cherished sister-in-law, Elma Hixon of Monroeville, Alabama; 12 grandchildren, Ernest IV, Bradley, Andre (Kelly), Porsche, Jesse II, Brittany, Chrystal, Shanda, Alexis, Adrianna, Jah’nai, and Nicholas; 21 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, many loving relatives, and friends.  

The funeral service for Martha Nell Williams will be held 11am Saturday at the Greater Friendly Missionary Baptist Church 1721 W. 19th Street Jacksonville, FL 32209.
