Obituary for Marvin Leroy Cherry

Marvin Leroy  Cherry
Marvin Leroy Cherry entered eternal life on Saturday, March 31, 2018. He was born on January 11, 1961 in Jacksonville, Florida to Johnnie B. and Francis Louise Cherry. His adoptive parents, Osborne Earl and Lillie Jackson, were instrumental in his upbringing during his formative years.

Marvin was educated in Duval County Public Schools. He attended Stanton High School. He worked in the general warehouse and food service industries where he enjoyed working with the transfer and delivery of goods and helping his colleagues. He served as a faithful member of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ernie L. Murray, Sr. where he served on Usher Board #2, District #11, Sunday School Class #7 and the Trusted Partners Ministry.

Marvin is also survived by his loving five children: Marvin Leroy Douglas, Darrell Brown, Marcus Cherry, Sr., Krista Francina Cherry, and Chatia Cherry; his grandchildren include: Tamiracle Douglas, Ternaushia Douglas, Deezealous Douglas, Marvin Douglas, Jr., TaQuan Douglas, Gabrielle Cherry, Marcus Cherry, Jr., Sharell Brown, Shanell Brown, and Ty’tiana Brown.

Marvin was predeceased by his parents, adoptive parents, and three siblings, Johnnie B. Cherry, Jr., Carl Jackson, and Mary Carter.

Marvin leaves to mourn his remaining brothers and sisters: Joseph Cherry, Laura Diane Cherry, Lewis Cherry, Doris Cherry, Earl Jackson (Carla), Brenda Wilson (Anthony), Cardell Jackson, and Renee Jackson. His nieces and nephews include: Maurice Cherry (Tracy), Ricky Cherry, Renada Cherry, Aisha Hepburn (Al), Sherry Jackson, Lakeshia Ravnell, Antwan Jackson, April Jackson, Shabar Baugh, and Rajsheta Baugh. Marvin’s favorite pastime was watching the Dallas Cowboys football team with his beloved cousin, Venita Griffey. He also leaves a host of other relatives and many sorrowing and faithful friends.

The funeral service for Marvin Leroy Cherry will be held 11:00 am SATURDAY, April 7th, 2018 at the St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, 5863 Moncrief Rd. The visitation will be held 5-7:00 pm, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book and view the video tribute @ www.tswarden.com.
