Obituary for May Frances Smith

May Frances Smith
May Frances Johnson was born October 23, 1947 to Primon Dean and Romelda Johnson in Gainesville, Fl. She was lovingly reared by her maternal aunt, Mrs. Magnolia Anderson. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended the local schools of Alachua County and graduated from New Stanton High School of Jacksonville.

She was married to Walter Ree Dawkins, Sr. and to this union their sons Roderick Lamar and
Walter Ree Jr. were born.

She was later united in marriage to Samuel Walter Smith and to this union their daughter
Cassandra Smith was born.

Although May Frances was a homemaker, she took on many responsibilities for the Smith family. Not only did she attend to her husband during his years of illness, but she did the same for Aunt Mamie and help raise Wendell her brother-in-law. She taught us how to cook and to make the most of what we have. Her laugh and smile was contagious, she was frank and honest.

Mrs. Smith departed this life on September 1, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Samuel Smith, her father: Primon Dean, her mother: Mrs. Romelda Johnson-Alexander and sister: Mrs. Marcella Sampson.
May Frances Smith passed away Saturday, September 1st, 2018. Arrangements in Care of: Funerals by T.S. Warden, 904-765-1234
