Mercer L. Harvey passed away Saturday September 29, 2012 at Hospice.
He was born on December 31st 1928 in Parrot, Georgia to the late Edgar and Lizzie Harvey. After receiving his education in the Terrell County School System his next endeavor was taking his wife’s hand (Naomi Robinson) in marriage in 1956. Employed as a full time meat cutter, he enjoyed watching Westerns, cooking and helping his wife take care of their garden. His green thumb was not his only talent but fixing and selling new and used TV’s to friends that were in need was his specialty. Over the years he gained many grandchildren that kept him youthful and smiling and during this time he acquired the nickname “Click” which comes from the silly noise he would make playing with his beloved grandchildren. His charisma and faithfulness drove him to serve many roles at the Eastside & First Coast Churches of Christ.
He is survived by wife Naomi Harvey and eight children; Phyllis Jackson (James); Anthony Harvey; Victoria Mitchell; Maria Gamble (Joseph); Mercedia Myers (Franklin) Edward Harvey (Jackie); Lynn and Tharin Harvey. Twenty grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his brother Willie Harvey. He also leaves behind his best friend Willie Lawson, a host of nieces nephews, other relatives, friends, his First Coast church family to cherish his life and memory.
