Obituary for Nathaniel Wesley Sr.

Nathaniel  Wesley Sr.
Mr. Nathaniel Wesley, Sr. was born on October 26, 1919 to the late George Wesley and Elsie Wesley in Jacksonville, Florida. Nathaniel was drafted in the army one week after his marriage to Victoria Rogers. He served his country from 1942 to 1945 as a Meddac. In this union they had three children, Nathaniel Wesley, Jr., Gloria Y. Wesley, and Elsie Wesley (preceded him in death).

Nathaniel returned from the army and started a career with the City of Jacksonville, and while working he continued his education graduating from Stanton Adult High School in December of 1952. Nathaniel accepted a second job with the Federal Government, he was truly a man who ensured that his family was very well provided for. He later retired from both jobs. Nathaniel was a member of Saint Stephen A.M.E. Church for many years.

Nathaniel later met Mozella Crowder (preceded him in death) and her five children, Rallin, Emmett, Gerald, (all preceded him in death), Wilmer Hicks his private cook and taxi service, and Brenda (Julius) Henderson, they united in marriage and to this union three sons, George, Bernard, and Joseph; four daughters, Annette (Edward) Brackett, Linda (Tyrone) Bussey, Joann, and Patricia.

Nathaniel attended Mary Singleton Center for his recreation time and volunteered for many years calling BINGO and later changed his attendance to the Lincoln Villa Center where he was known for his style of dress. He met many people along with his special friend, Mildred Mitchell.

Nathaniel has fourteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Nathaniel Wesley Sr. will be held 11AM, Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at the St. Stephens A. M. E. Church 913 W 5th St. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM , Friday at the mortuary. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com.
