Obituary for Richard Brown

Richard  Brown
Mr. Richard Theodore Brown (Dicky) was born on April 5, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Alexander Brown and Wilhelmenia Nelson. Richard was lovingly known by his family members and close friends as “Dicky”.

Richard received his education in the Duval County Public Schools and later joined the United States Army where he served his country and was honorably discharged in 1957. Richard was also a member of the Masonic Order. Richard went to work for Baptist hospital, where he met and later married his wife of 57 years, Minnie Brown. Richard later retired from FMC after over 15 years of service as a forklift truck driver. His hobbies included watching television and attending the Jaguar games with his wife Minnie.

Richard entered eternal life on Friday, June 12, 2015, and was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Brown on March 1, 2014; brothers, James Brown and Paul Brown; sisters, Madeline Mercy, Hazel Washington and Earnestine Brown.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memories two children, Sandy Brown (Patricia) and Charlotte Lang (Kelvin); five grandchildren, Marcus Brown, Kelvin Lang, II, Tracie York (Gregory), Brittany Penn (Courtney) and Tangeia Harrell (Melvin); seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Brown, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing close friends, including Beulah Brooks.

The funeral service for Richard Brown will be held 11AM, Thursday at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel . The visitation will be 5-7PM, Wednesday at the mortuary.
