Sandra Lafaye Smith was born on November 9, 1957 to Leo Kirby and Ida Mae Kirby in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended Stanton High School and graduated a proud “Blue Devil” in 1975. Sandra worked in the medical field at St. Vincent’s and Memorial Hospitals for over 20 years before going on to work for British Airways. During her more than 13 years at British Airways, Sandra developed an innumerable amount of special friendships and a love for traveling.

Sandra departed this life on the morning of August 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Kirby and her mother, Ida Mae Kirby.

Sandra leaves to cherish her memories a son, David L. Smith; daughter, Sabrina S. Valentine; son-in-law, Franklin Valentine; two granddaughters, Syreeta Smith and Salajah Smith-Valentine; three sisters, Leigh S. Kirby, Tannika R. Glenn, and Leonda S. Kirby; two uncles, Willie Hay and James Hay; aunt, Lina Mae Persons; two cousins, Sean Edwards and Deborah M. Smalls; a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends of the family, David C. Johnson, Shirley Evans, and Margaretta Morris-Williams.

The funeral service for Sandra Lafaye Smith will be held 11AM Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday, September 2nd, 2016 at the mortuary. Interment is private. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S.
