Obituary for Vincent Brown

Vincent  Brown
Vincent Jarrot Brown was born on August 18, 1962 in Jacksonville, Florida to Jennie Singleton and Claude Brown. He graduated from Jean Ribault Senior High School, Class of 1980, where he was an active band member. Vincent attended Edward Waters College, where he sang in the choir. Vincent also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Vincent always had a natural talent for performing and was a self taught dancer. He was crowned Mr. Black Jacksonville in 1982. At the age of 22, he studied with the prestigious Alvin Ailey in New York City and the Philadanco Ballet Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After returning to Jacksonville, Florida, Vincent began making a name for himself in the arts. He then became an instructor at Attitudes Performing Arts Studio, where he ended his career.

Vincent was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Alice Nelson and Louise Quarterman; his biological father, Claude Brown and uncle, James Brightman, Sr.

Vincent leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Jennie and Isadore Singleton, II; siblings, Victor(Kena) Brown, Isadore Singleton, III and Jevial Allen; aunt, Mamie Brightman; nieces, Kevicia Brown and Adonia Dinish; nephews, Victor Brown, II, Isadore Singleton, IV, Edward Dinish, II, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Vincent Brown will be held 1:30pm SATURDAY at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 N. Main St . The visitation will be held 5 - 7 PM Friday at the mortuary.
