Obituary for Virginia Joyce Kohn
Sister Virginia Joyce Kohn passed away quietly at home on December 24, 2015 surrounded by her family. Sister Virginia, known as Kohnnie to her friends, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Frank Dixon and Earlie White and stepmother Marie Dixon. She attended Stanton High School in Jacksonville and later relocated to Washington D.C. where she received her license as a Registered Nurse. Sister Kohn returned to Jacksonville and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of North Florida. After 40 years of nursing, she retired from Naval Air Station—Jacksonville. Mrs. Kohn was a member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. and The Order of the Eastern Star; she was also an active member of The Church Fellowship.
Sister Virginia, VMama to her grandchildren, was predeceased by her husband, Marvin E. Kohn, brothers, Frank Dixon, Jr. and Leon Dixon; sister, Colista Smith; nephew Michael Williams and granddaughter Tiffany Kohn.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children - Marva Marie Kohn, Norman (Chekitha) Kohn, and Dwyane (Nigelle) Kohn; sister Doris (Charles) Williams; stepson Kevin (Theresa) Marshall; grandchildren, Carlton (Monica) Covin, II, Alison (Saron) Gary, Kristian Kohn, Nicholas Kohn, Dwyane Kohn, II, and Gabriel Kohn ; great-grandchildren Anthony Gary and Amere Sweeting; nephews Charles Anthony Liggons and Charles Williams, II; nieces Ernestine Noisette, Elizabeth Noisette, Patricia Noisette and Alana Williams; great nephew Charles Williams, III and Keylan Rivers, great niece Charity Williams and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones. Virginia also leaves behind her long time friends Mary (Larry) Cromartie and Betty Johnson, Goddaughter Angela (David) Saunders, and her beloved cousins Melajee Harris and Reginald Robinson.
The memorial service for Virginia Joyce Kohn will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 at the The Church Fellowship 8808 Lem Turner Road JACKSONVILLE, FL 32208.
