Willie was born on January 10, 1940 in Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Isaiah and Lillie Hayes. In 1958, Willie was the oldest of 16 siblings, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his mother, father and siblings.

Willie moved to New York City in 1961 and married his 1st wife, Marva Lois Hayes, from this union 3 children were born. Willie did various jobs in New York to become the man he was. In 1967, he married his 2nd wife, Rosa L. Hayes, from this union 3 children were born. Around 1984/1985 Willie moved backed to Jacksonville, Fla. Until the Lord called him home.

Willie was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Marva Lois Hayes; daughter, Renee L. Hayes; mother, Lillie Mae Hayes; father, Isaiah Hayes; sister, Rosa Lee Hayes; grandson, Joseph C. Hayes; niece, Shirley Hayes.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Willie Charles Hayes, Jr, (Ernestine) and Anthony Hayes; daughters, Ruby Hayes McCormick (Sherod), Felecia Brewer (Kenneth) and Lorraine Monroe Williams (Morris); brothers and sisters, Nettie Hayes Robinson, Mack Hayes, Lillie Hayes Barron (John), Lloyd Hayes (Voncile), Prennice Hayes (Annie), Raymond Hayes (Mary), Annie Hayes, Kelvin Hayes, Mae Williams (Gerald), Lavern Hayes, Tyrone Hayes and Michelle (Peaches) Carr; grandsons, Alexander Hayes, Willie C. Hayes III, Dennis Hayes, Ernest Monroe, Jr., Eric Monroe, Sherod McCormick, Jr., Timothy Hayes and Kenneth Brewer, Jr.; granddaughters, Dominique McCormick, Brittany McCormick, Destiney McCormick, Candace Hayes and Kesha Brewer; great-grandchildren, Sherod McCormick III, Sebastian McCormick and Kyle Brewer; favorite relatives and caregiver’s, Celestine (Tiny) Miller, Tyrone Hayes and Artarius Mason; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Willie Charles Hayes, Sr. will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N Main Street. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, February 8th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South.
