Willie Jerome Kirkland was born on July 17, 1960 to Willie and Lena Kirkland. He attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from Stanton Senior High School in 1978. Willie enjoyed playing basketball at Simonds-Johnson Park where he and Derry “Darryl” Hall ruled the courts. He was employed with Abdullah’s Jewelry Store for over 15 years and worked for Jax Mooring Boat Company. Willie was the manager and owner of his own lawn service.

Willie Jerome departed this life on Monday, April 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jirishua “Rish” Thompson; grandparents, Lela Belle Craddock, Jim Gamble, Bozzie and Corrine Kirkland.

Willie Jerome leaves behind to cherish his memories: children, Deon, Savali, Brandon, Janae, Joshua; other daughter, Latasha; parents, Willie and Lena Kirkland; brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Kirkland; sisters, Wanda Kirkland and LaTosha Bing (Kenneth); six grandchildren, a close cousin, Tony Allen; godbrother, Tavio Rutledge; four nieces; two nephews; several cousins; other relatives; very close friends, the Tunsill brothers; ex-wife, Valarie Kirkland; girlfriend, Frances Lynch and a host of many other friends.

The funeral service for Willie Jerome Kirkland will be held 11 AM, SATURDAY, April 7th, 2018 at the St. Matthew Baptist Church, 3731 Moncrief Rd The visitation will be 5 - 7 PM, Friday(TODAY), at the mortuary.
