Obituary for Gerald Jerome McDowell Jr.

Gerald Jerome McDowell Jr.
Gerald Jerome McDowell, Jr. was born on June 2, 1993 at Baptist Medical Center. He was the oldest son of Gerald and Pamela McDowell. He passed away on July 22, 2016 at home. Gerald was educated in the Duval County Public School System, where he graduated from William M. Raines High School, Class of 2012. He had a love for video games, watching television, listening to music, and traveling with his family. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball; like that of his father, who wore the number 12 on many occasions.

Gerald had a smile that would light up a room. He was an independent young man who loved the Lord and faithfully went to St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served in the media ministry, the choir, church school, and the youth usher board.  He was baptized and raised up in the oldest African Methodist Episcopal Church in the State of Florida, “Mother” Midway AME Church, where he was a member of those same organizations along with the YPD (Young People’s Department) of the Women’s Missionary Society. Gerald had a heart for pleasing others and helping wherever there was a need.

Gerald leaves to God’s loving care: his loving parents, Gerald and Pamela McDowell; his brother, Gregory McDowell; grandparents, Earnest and Annie McDowell and Christian and Annie Capers; uncles, Tony (Denese) McDowell, Ernest (Carla) McDowell, and Christian (Gina) Capers Jr.; aunt, April Capers; and a host of cousins and many loyal caring relatives and friends.
