Obituary for Melvin Carter

Melvin Carter affectionately known as “Hallace Carter” was born on May 29, 1941 in Camilla, Georgia to Eugene Carter and the late Rosa Carter. Melvin received his early education in Camilla, Georgia and graduated from Mitchell County Training School class of 1957.

Melvin spent his career in transportation with Winn Dixie where he retired after 40 plus years of service. After retirement Melvin was employed with Buggs Transportation, Duval County Schools as a bus driver, ET Transportation, and his final retirement was a driver at Northside Church of Christ known as Car Pool Papa!

Melvin was added to the body of Christ on October 11, 1975 and remained a faithful member until his passing.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Joan P. Carter of 38 years; five daughters, Sharon Glen (Warren), Annette Wynn (Earl), Anngelette a.k.a Angie Thomas, Monica LaCour, Niki Queen (Torrance); four grandchildren, Abyah Wynn, Danielle Dous’e, Myla Queen and Torrance Queen, Jr.; father, Eugene Carter; four siblings, Ira Gene Williams (Levi), Wallace Carter, Bobby Carter (Mayfairy) and Brenda Pratt; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and love ones who will miss him dearly.

The funeral service for Melvin Carter will be held 10:00 am SATURDAY, February 10th, 2018 at the Northside Church of Christ, 4736 Avenue "B". The visitation will be 5 - 7:00 pm, Friday, February 9th, 2018 at the church. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Please sign the family guest book and view the video tribute @ www.tswarden.com.
