Obituary for Alainna Laverne McIntel Taylor

Alainna Laverne McIntel Taylor
Alainna Laverne McIntel Taylor was born on August 28, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Washington and Mattie Ruth McIntel. Nicknamed ‘Punkin’ from the very beginning, Alainna was the youngest daughter of three. Alainna, known for her bright, beautiful smile, breezed through school and graduated from Sandalwood High School in 1973.

Soon after graduating, Laverne followed in her big sisters footsteps to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. It was there she met the love of her life, Robert Taylor, her future husband and soul mate. They married in 1983, and had three children: Roman, Rachel, and RuthAshley. She held various positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield within the telecommunications department. A member of many teams, church committees, the MS Society organization, and the occasional bowling league, Alainna made many lifelong friends.

Alainna was diagnosed with MS in her late twenties and fought her fight for over 30 years with grace and poise. The degenerative disease eventually led to her inability to walk, but could never take away her light. Never one to complain, she was quoted saying “If I let my illness define me, then I wouldn’t be able to be thankful for all of God’s other blessings… at least He gave me something that doesn’t hurt.” Even in the end, that light never burned out.

Left to cherish her life is her devoted husband Robert, and children, Roman (Christy), Rachel (Scott), RuthAshley, Regina, Ronald (LaTonya), and Robin; grandchildren, Lily, Kevin, Randall, Kristopher, Damion, Ronald Jr, and Aaliyah; sisters, Estella (Jimmy) Groover and Jonette Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

The funeral service for Alainna Laverne McIntel Taylor will be held 10AM, Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at the Bethel Baptist Institutional Church 215 Bethel Baptist Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday at the mortuary. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book and view the video tribute @ www.tswarden.com.
