A Life Celebrated

Annette Edelphia Clarke was born on March 19, 1929 to the late Judson and Blanche Brown Sr., in Camilla Georgia. “Annette”, as she is affectionately known among her family and friends, received her education in the Duval County Public School System. She went on to further her education at the Jones Business College in Jacksonville, Florida where she earned her Business Degree.

Annette received Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age at Zion Hope Baptist Church where she was baptized. She regularly attended Sunday School, Prayer Service and Baptist Training Union (BTU).

She was blessed with her first child, Thelma J. Moore (preceded in death). She moved to New York where she was later united in Holy Matrimony to the late Richard R. Clarke. Through this union were born Richard Ricardo Paul (preceded in death), Reginald Timothy, Valyrie Blanche and Robert Bernard. She lived in New York for many years before returning to her home town of Jacksonville, Florida.

She held many positions throughout the Jacksonville area such as the Jacksonville Urban League, Barnett Bank, Century National Bank and retired from Independent Life Insurance Company. She was a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ. She was active in the Ladies Bible Class, Food Pantry and Life Group serving as Secretary Treasury. She also worked as the bookkeeper for the Church where she later retired.

Annette was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. She loved God and demonstration His love until the end of her precious life.

Annette leaves a lifelong legacy of demonstrating her love for Jesus Christ and family, children Reginald Clarke, Valyrie Bailey and Robert Clarke (Michelle); siblings, Judson Brown, Jr. (Kathleen), Carlton Brown (Deloris), Johnnie Mae Thomas, Pearl Jones (Cleveland), and Dorris Black (Elwood II). She also leaves twenty-one (21) loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sister Bernice Hudson and her brothers Clanzel and Johnny Lee Brown.
