Belonging

Back in high school, Greg was one of my ranking officers in JROTC at Englewood Sr High. From my first day in class, he taught me how to stand at attention and carry myself with head up, with pride and confidence, and not to knuckle under to intimidation. Later, as friends, Greg was always someone who was watchful and protective and loyal. Sometimes quietly from the background, and sometimes in your face and bigger than life, but always a friend. He helped me to have a sense of belonging and I knew he had our backs, as we had his. But he was one of those people in my life who seemed to give to others more often than he asked something of them. One of my favorite memories of Greg is when I came home one evening and he was sitting at our family's kitchen table playing cards with my mom and little brother. He was drinking ice tea and smiling. And that is how I will always remember you, Greg. God bless and keep you, brother. Save us a seat at the table. Terri
