Rodney Eric Jones, 57 passed away March 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife Shelida; children, Willis and Lah'Treana; three grandchildren; his siblings, Sharon (Al) Offord, Reginald (Lisa) and Meloney. The funeral service will be held 11AM, Saturday, at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B.. The visitation will be Friday (TODAY), 6 - 8PM at the mortuary. Life Story for Rodney Eric Jones

Rodney Eric Jones was the first-born son to the late Joe and Louvenia Jones, in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended local public schools and graduated in 1972 from William M. Raines High School; he graduated from erst Florida Community College at Jacksonville and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida with a B.S. in Business Administration. After he graduated from college, he joined the U.S. Army (Capt.) and worked for the City of Jacksonville Fire and Rescue where he retired from station #45.

He was added to the Northside Church of Christ in August, 1978, under the leadership of Charlie McClendon. Through his belief and faith, his best friend, (now his wife) was also added to the church. He remained a member until his demise.

He married Shelida Troutman in 1979 at Northside Church of Christ; from that union, formed Willis (Sheila) and Lah'Treána. He leaves behind three grandchildren LaKeisha, Christopher, and Alexis; his siblings Sharon Offord (Allen), Reginald (Lisa), and Meloney; aunts Willie B. Meadows, Annie Bell Howard, Grace Howard, and Valerie Williams (Kenneth); brother and sister-in-laws Deloris Hutchins, Margaret Varnadore (Squire), Dorothy Jackson (Richard); and a host of great-aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and faithful friends: his best friend and confidant Kenneth Williams.

He was a member of the FAMU Alumni Association; JRE Lee Chapter; Brotherhood Firefighters; American Legion 197; Albert's Doo Wop Club; The James Brown Fan Club; The Roy Hamilton Fan Club; and served as a board member for the Community Rehabilitation Center (CRC).
