Life Story for Walter Lee Givins, Jr.

Walter Lee  Givins, Jr.
Walter Lee Givins, Jr. age 56, passed away on March 31, 2010. Walter was born on September 29, 1953 to Mary Reed Anderson and the late Walter Lee Givins, Sr.

He was a life long resident of Jacksonville Florida and attended Duval County public schools. He began his career at the Florida Times-Union working in the Circulation Department until his retirement on July 1, 2005.

He was blessed with an abundance of musical talent and as a child performed on the nationally televised Reverend C.H. Crosby Gospel Time program. His powerful falsetto earned him acclaim as one of Jacksonville’s premier gospel singers. His talent placed him on stage with legendary gospel performers James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Norwood and several local ensembles including the Bivins Specials.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Reed Anderson; sisters, Toxie Givins of New York City, Sherry Givins, Natte Givins, Darlene Givins; brothers, Darryl Givins and Vederick (Felicia) Dunbar all of Jacksonville.
